CONFERENCE DINNER, MAY 23

Attending the Conference Dinner is free for all Conference participants and accompanying persons.

Behind Great Onofrio's Fountain lies the monastery of St. Klara, the best known and the most important of the eight monasteries for women in Dubrovnik (five of which were Benedictine, one was Dominican and two were the monasteries of Klarisas - Franciscan sisters). On May 27 1806, when the French occupant army entered Dubrovnik, all monasteries were closed, and the monastery of St. Klara was turned into a stable and an ammunition warehouse.

Later the monastery of St. Klara served various purposes, and after World War II, a restaurant called "Jadran" was opened within the monastery, which was later renamed "Libertas", and now named "Klarisa". In the atrium of the ancient monastery of St. Klara, on an exceptional location, the restaurant Klarisa offers unforgettable gastronomic experience.

Transfers to/from restaurant will be arranged.

Pelješac is the second largest peninsula in Croatia after the peninsula Istria. It is very well known for its wines, especially the red wines Postup and Dingač which are grown for hundreds of years in the vineyards along the southern slopes of the peninsula, as well as for the ancient town of Ston (combined settlements Veliki and Mali Ston).

Ston, a town that Napoleon was more eager to acquire than Dubrovnik itself, is famous for its valuable salt works which are still in function today and for its great fortifying walls – proudly announcing themselves to be the second longest in the world after the Great Wall of China.

The fruits of the work of local wine producers are most appreciated when shared – taste some of the best local wines visiting the wine cellars and learning something on the wine producing.

Mali Ston's great claim to fame are its oysters which are voted the finest in the world. You will have the opportunity to taste the freshly opened oysters smelling of the sea for yourself.

Finally lunch will be served at restaurant Bota in Mali Ston, one of the best restaurants in the area offering local specialties.
